The Worst Road in Maine

Badgerboro Road in Palmyra has been nominated as the worst road in Maine.
The Badgerboro Road is an old road over a bog that was never built correctly, according to selectmen. As budgets were trimmed ever tighter over the years, maintenance of the dirt roads took a back seat to more pressing expenses. It is a scenario being played out in nearly every town in Maine.

This year, possibly because most of the winter was warm and the ground wasn’t frozen, the mud is especially bad. Places that never had a problem before are like quicksand, public works directors are reporting.

"Have you got a magical cure?" Selectman Michael Cray asked Friday. "There is no question this road is horrible, but all we can do at this point is wait for it to dry." [Link]
