Covered Bridge Overbooked

The Artist's Bridge on Sunday River in Newry is a favorite spot for weddings. But the 1872 Paddleford truss bridge can accommodate only one wedding at a time.
The Town of Newry has a message for brides-to-be who might be envisioning a wedding at the Artist’s Bridge — the town is not in the wedding planning business.

“We’re not booking the bridge,” said First Selectman Steve Wight.

It’s a point the board wants to emphasize after two brides signed up for the bridge for the same date and time next summer.

One of the brides, who claims she has committed thousands of dollars for her plans that day, now wants the town to either reimburse her or pay for an alternate wedding site. [Link]
