Can We Still Rent DVDs?

The Christian Civic League of Maine—fresh from its failures to keep slot machines out of Bangor and homosexuals out of the closet—has called for a boycott of Maine cinemas because of the upcoming release of "The Da Vinci Code."
Executive Director Michael S. Heath, citing the anticipated May 19 release of the Ron Howard directed movie, as well as the "current deplorable state of the movies in general," said he is calling on all people of good will to avoid Maine's movie theaters indefinitely. He encourages people to call or write theaters, asking that "The Da Vinci Code" not be shown. [Link]

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mike Heath! Now they'll be flocking to the theatre where I run the projectors!

Jim Brunelle wrote a great critique of Heath's "pointlessly over-the-top" tactics in today's Kennebec Journal. He challenges Heath, not on his moral conclusions, but on his doomed-from-the-start strategy. It's the same response I would have given.
