Turkeys Headed North

Some Aroostook County farmers are resisting the introduction of wild turkeys to the area.

Jim Lilley of Smyrna was approached by Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department biologists about having some birds dropped off on his farm.
With foot upon foot of snow in The County for months each winter, relocated turkeys will have nothing to eat in winter but his grain and stored grasses, Lilley said.

"If they migrate to this area, I'll deal with it," the farmer said. "But don't nudge them in." [Link]
