A Very Wyeth Christmas

For the third time since 1981, the work of Maine artist Jamie Wyeth adorns the official White House Christmas card.
For his subject, Wyeth painted the south portico of the White House, with the Andrew Jackson magnolia tree off to the side covered with snow. A long admirer of animals and pets, Wyeth also included the two presidential pups, Barney and Miss Beazley, as well as India "Willie" Bush, the White House cat, in his wintry scene.

Atop the White House, Wyeth painted the American flag, stiff in the wind.

"It's the house and not the people I am more interested in," said Wyeth. "I kind of love the idea of Christmas and the fact that this is the nation's house. The White House is an incredible place. Foreign friends of mine come to Washington expecting to see Versailles. But here is this small little house." [Link]
