Trees For Troops

U.S. troops serving in the Middle East will be gathering around 1,000 Christmas trees grown in Maine.

As part of the DHL shipping company's Trees for Troops initiative, Dugald "Doug" Kell, Sr. — president of Kelco Industries in Milbridge — shipped out 500 balsam firs earlier this month, and Tom Dee's tree farm in Franklin provided 500 more.
Last Christmas, Dee donated 200 trees for shipment to troops overseas. This year, he donated another 200 balsams and sold 300 more to DHL “at a very special price.”

When DHL made a last-minute request for 500 more trees, Dee turned to Kell for help.

“I didn’t have the time or the manpower to do another 500 trees,” Dee said. “I called Doug and, by the next day, he came up with the 500 trees we needed, which DHL purchased at a very reasonable price for delivery here.” [Link]
