Improving the Odds

State officials are planning to add a new weapon to their Amber Alert arsenal.
The state's Amber Alert network will soon begin using the 1,400 lottery terminals in addition to state broadcasters and local police departments when issuing broad public alerts about endangered children.

"In the best of all possible worlds, it will never be used, but if it is, it's nice to have this coordination to get that information out as quickly as possible," said Lottery Director Dan Gwadosky. "Now we'll be able to add 1,400 different mom-and-pop shops across the state." [Link]
