Almost, Maine

Presque Isle native John Cariani's play Almost, Maine begins its off-Broadway previews today, a year after its world premiere in Portland.
ALMOST, MAINE is a delightful romantic comedy — a magical look at the relationships between men and women. The setting is a small town in far northern Maine, on a Friday night in the middle of winter. Under a big, moonless, northern sky, residents of ALMOST, MAINE are falling in and out of love at an alarming rate. Knees are getting bruised; hearts are getting broken ... but the bruises heal and hearts mend — almost — in what has been described as a “charming mid-winter night's dream.” The story of a town and its people, ALMOST, MAINE offers an evening of surprising revelations. Cariani has a recurring role as CSU Technician Julian Beck on Law & Order, and received a Tony nomination for his work as Motel in the revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
