Downeaster to Run Five Times a Day

A new side track to be built in New Hampshire will allow the Downeaster to make a fifth daily trip from Portland to Boston.
The side track will enable freight and passenger trains to move off the main line and allow other trains to pass. Without it, the line is too congested to accommodate the additional trip. [Link]
Work on the new track is expected to be completed within a year.
