Burnt Island Lighthouse Photo Donated

A vintage photograph of a Southport lighthouse was donated recently to the Burnt Island Living Lighthouse Museum in Boothbay Harbor.

Timothy Harrison, president of the American Lighthouse Foundation, said, "The photograph came into our possession a number of years ago. We scanned the image for our files and then placed the original in storage for safekeeping. This was long before Burnt Island Lighthouse was restored as a living history museum."
The original matted photo, estimated to be taken [in] the late 1800's or early 1900's shows the light-station before many of the large trees had grown up and changed the landscape. [Link]
Burnt Island Light, built in 1821, stands near the entrance to Boothbay Harbor, and is managed by the Maine Department of Marine Resources.
