Maine on Film

The website has many commendable features, but the best may be the selections offered from the Northeast Historic Film Archive.

Among the 33 titles now available for viewing are selected scenes from a 1906 promotional film about fishing in Rangeley, a 1941 color film about the Maine Marine Worm Industry, and a 1990 documentary about Franco-American musicians.

All of these films are drawn from the collections of Northeast Historic Film, a not-for-profit organization based in a renovated theater in Bucksport. Members can borrow videotapes from the archives for only the cost of shipping. Everything from home movies to early television broadcasts are available in their collections—all in some way related to northern New England.
