Another Lobsterman Wins Big

Just a week after Ted Ames of Stonington won a MacArthur Genius Grant, a second Maine lobsterman has made national news.

Doug Goodale of Wells had to cut off part of his right arm in 1997 after a mishap aboard his boat. Now he's getting a new house, built by the crew from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Goodale, his wife and two daughters, got the news Tuesday when TV cameras and host Ty Pennington showed up at their door. Now they're living in exile, awaiting the big "Move that bus!" moment, which will arrive next Tuesday. Progress on the home can be monitored at the website of Katahdin Cedar Log Homes, the Oakfield company building the new house. Demolition of the Goodale's old double-wide trailer begins today at noon. The program featuring this project is expected to air in December or January.
