Maine Soldier Needs Support
Staff Sgt. Chad Staples of Jay was severely wounded in a firefight in Baghdad on Tuesday. His cousin, blogger Jason Clarke, is asking for donations for the family.
Today, Sgt. Staples was flown to Walter Reed after surgeries at an Army hospital in Germany. To date, he has lost a portion of his colon, along with a right kidney. At this point, he may also have lost the use of his right leg. Doctors will know more after he his stabilized at Walter Reed.
Today, his parents flew down from their home in Maine to be with him. Although the Army is paying for their flight, they are likely to encounter many expenses during their visit, and as part of the difficult recovery ahead. [Link]
