Save the Barn on Stearns Hill Farm
Ellen Gibson is selling a calendar to raise money to restore the circa 1817 barn on her Paris property. She's received a $10,000 grant from the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, but has to match it with local funding.
The barn is currently used for storage of historic and modern-day farm and garden implements, carts, wagons, sleighs, maple syrup-making gear, lumber and for hay (which is sold throughout the winter).
Gibson hopes that after the barn is repaired, it will also house sheep, goats, draft horses, pigs and chickens.
She is also exploring the possibility of developing a museum in the upper story, with a collection of agricultural artifacts, carts, wagons, and sleighs. [Link]
