MDI Shaken by Third Quake

Mount Desert Island was shaken by its third earthquake in less than two weeks Monday night at 8:07. The quake was centered about 4 miles SSE of Bar Harbor, and measured 3.4 (some reports have said 4.2) on the Richter scale. It was felt as far away as Saco and Oxford, and at seismic stations in Canada. Some damage to buildings was reported on Mount Desert Island, and part of the Loop Road in Acadia National Park was closed because of a landslide.

If magnitude 4.2, this would be the largest earthquake in Maine in more than 25 years.
