"The People's Hero" Won't Be on Ballot
A federal judge yesterday turned down a Windham man's request to have his name appear as "Thu People's Hero, Phillip Morris NaPier" on the November ballot for governor.
NaPier at first sought to have his legal name include smiley faces at the beginning and end, but was told the state's printing technology would not allow it. He says the spelling "Thu" for "The" is drawn from his upbringing in Appalachia and is not necessarily a misspelling.
NaPier also wants to include a political designation expressing his frustration with government - which the secretary of state has rejected, saying it's obscene enough to offend some voters. [Link]
