Stone Mountain Arts Center

Carol Noonan and husband Jeff Flagg are opening a 200-seat concert hall in their Brownfield backyard this weekend. The Stone Mountain Arts Center has exposed timbers, mountain views, re-upholstered Boston Opera House seats in the balcony, and a house band featuring "some of the finest players in the east coast."

Acts scheduled to perform in months to come include Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives, and Kathy Mattea.
“I got the idea because I was tired of playing bad venues,” said Noonan. A Peabody, Mass. native who has lived in Maine for about 20 years, Noonan has lived through nearly all the highs and lows a music career can offer.

“It’s shameful I had to build an arts center in my backyard,” said Noonan in a lament to the loss of smaller, comfortable clubs offering music at reasonable prices. [Link]
