The Maine Print Project

Twenty-five institutions in Maine will participate in "The Maine Print Project: Celebrating 200 Years of Printmaking in Maine." Exhibitions have already opened in Hinckley and Ogunquit, with more to follow in the fall.
The scope of the project is far-reaching. Each institution originated its own exhibition, based on material in its own collection or on what it could borrow.

The project also includes a new book that traces printmaking in Maine. Published by Down East Books, "The Imprint of Place: Maine Printmaking 1800-2005" by art scholar David P. Becker is the first chronological survey of the subject. [Link]
