Maine Genealogists, Rejoice

Two new resources for genealogists with early Maine roots have been released this spring. NEHGS has digitized York County, Maine, Wills and Deeds and put them on a fully searchable CD-ROM. Maine Wills (1640-1760) are easily found online and off, but the 18 volumes of York Deeds (1647-1737) are shelved in few libraries outside of New England. Since York was Maine's only county until 1760, these deeds cover land transactions for all the settled portions of southern Maine. The CD will be available through the NewEnglandAncestors.org store.

Picton Press has released Vital Records of Wells, Maine, 1619-1950—another long-awaited title. Wells is Maine's third oldest town, and once included both Kennebunk and Ogunquit.
