Night Fishing for Cusk
Dave Sherwood has a nice piece in today's Central Maine papers about fishing through the ice in a secluded cove of Moosehead Lake.
When we fish at night, we find cusk in the same, shallow waters that the brook trout and salmon roam during the day.
It's pristine water -- to see it for yourself, kneel down and drape your hood and head over a hole in the ice in shallow water. The bottom is a granular mix of boulders and gravel, a patchwork of subdued colors as beautiful to the fisherman's eye as any tile mosaic or stained glass window. [Link]
