'American Inventor' Judge a Maine Native

One of the judges on American Inventor—debuting tonight on ABC—was born in Portland, and graduated from UMaine in 1981. Doug Hall—whose family comes from North Fryeburg—will be the one wearing a Hawaiian shirt and blue jeans. He lives now in Newtown, Ohio.
Hall has been inventing most of his life. As a 12-year-old in Maine, he created and sold magic and juggling kits.

His company has researched more than 15,000 ideas. Most remain secret, though press accounts credit him with Eveready's lead-free battery and Crystal Pepsi, the clear cola. [Link]
