Yarmouth Man Gets His Paycheck

Yarmouth holds most of its municipal meetings in the American Legion Log Cabin, which dates from 1932. It was built in Northern Maine by Ward Cedar Log Homes—"America's first log home manufacturer"—shipped to Yarmouth, and there assembled by Frank Knight and others. Knight, now 97, will finally get the $80 he was owed by the Houlton company next week—with interest compounded over 74 years.
On Tuesday, Jonathan French, president and owner of Ward Cedar Log Homes, will give Knight a check for $1,475.

Knight plans to donate the check to the William Mann Scholarship Endowment Fund at North Yarmouth Academy, a fund created by his father-in-law. [Link]
