Film Critic Paul Clinton Dies
Paul Clinton—who CNN says "was born in Maine and moved as a child to Columbus, Ohio, where he was raised"—died Monday in Los Angeles at age 53.
Paul wasn't the most artful writer -- or most art-obsessed movie reviewer -- as he would be the first to tell you. He loved the roller coaster rides and popcorn flicks as much as he enjoyed works that aspired to something more. [Link]Here's how Clinton described his job in his CNN bio:
Supposedly, the average person in the United States sees six films a year. At $7-8 a ticket, $10 at the concession stand, and another $5 for parking (not to mention a babysitter) going to a movie can be a major expense.Rotten Tomatoes says Clinton agreed with the "Tomatometer" 70% of the time.
So night after night, I pull out pen and paper and drag myself to movie screenings just so I can warn you and inform you. Yeah, it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it. [Link]
