An Estate Auction Not To Be Missed

Anyone interested in Maine's history will want to check out the estate auction of C. S. Dunning's Coastal Saltwater Farm, January 20 and 21.

The remnants of five generations of the Dunning family of Harpswell will be sold at the McMorrow Auction Hall in Poland.
Auctioneers Joseph and Judy McMorrow and their employees have been piecing together the most dramatic and mundane moments of the family's history for the last month, organizing and categorizing everything from sea captains' spyglasses to 1897 editions of Brunswick Telegraph newspapers.

And they've barely found the plot line.

"In over 25 years of doing this, this is the first one we've considered really significant," Jody McMorrow said of the collection that dates from the 1840s and includes all the records and material goods of the seafaring and farming Harpswell family. [Link]
