Erratic Locations

Dudley Zopp of Belfast's new installation at the Atrium Art Gallery at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College seeks to answer the age-old question, "How does one leap off the cliff of geologic reality into an ephemeral world where articulated paper only indexes geological forces?"

Her answer — called "Erratic Locations" — comes in the form of huge sheets of builder's paper, "crumpled, written, painted, and marked on," meant to bring to mind "the geological forces of boulders left at random by the receding Laurentide Ice Sheet about 12,000 years ago."

Previous installations of "Erratic Locations" were seen at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art and the Portland Museum of Art.
