Our Maine: The Way Life Is

22 Maine students have contributed stories, essays, and poems to a new CD called "Our Maine: The Way Life Is." It was produced by the Maine Writing Project, "an affiliate of the National Writing Project, which is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of writing across the curriculum at all grade levels."
Kalarr Dunphy from Narraguagus High School in Harrington wrote that she feels "the most alive" in Down East Maine, "where fishermen haul their traps and wormers and clammers hack at the mud ...."

And Patrick Keith, also from Narraguagus, wrote that he finds "profound peace and tranquility" in the Maine woods, where he can "watch the world go by, caught in the glory and beauty of simple things like a blossoming flower or a sunrise." [Link]
The CD is only available to teachers, but may someday be broadcast on public radio and local public access channels.
