The Town of Dutch Neck, Maine?

The residents of Dutch Neck in Waldoboro are not happy with their tax bills, and are considering a radical move. A meeting will be held Wednesday evening to discuss seceding from Waldoboro. 127 taxpayers live along 2.5-mile-long Dutch Neck Road.

Dutch Neck is a peninsula bordering the Medomak River. "Dutch" refers to the many German immigrants who settled in the Broad Bay region in the 1700s.

Secession is a Maine tradition. Long Island seceded from Portland in 1993, and Frye Island on Sebago Lake parted ways with Standish in 1997. Residents of Biddeford Pool have long threatened secession.
