Leaves are Running Late

According to the official state report, the foliage in Central and Southern Maine should be reaching its height of color in the next week or two. Updates from rangers throughout the state are expected tomorrow.

YankeeFoliage.com has colors peaking in Aroostook County, moderate in Somerset County, and turning elsewhere. Rainy weather over the weekend may have discouraged reporting from some locations.

News that leaf-peeping brings $83 million in revenue to the state each year reminds us of how important a turn in the weather can be at this time of the season. For those eager to see Maine's famous fall vistas, be patient. They're coming.
